A.
Braum's products are delivered every other
day by our own fleet of refrigerated trucks so that we can sell

a 300-mile radius of our processing plant and distribution center
in Tuttle, Oklahoma, 40 miles southwest of Oklahoma City.

i
Q. I heard that
Braum's has the largest dairy herd in the world. Is this true?
A.
Braum's milks over 10,000 cows 3 times each
day 7 days a week, and has the largest number of cows being milked
in one location.

Q. Do you make
all the products sold in Braum's stores?
A.
We make the majority of the items sold in
our stores, however, some of our items are custom made for us
to our specifications and with our recipes.

Q. What makes your
limeades so good?
A.
The difference is the use of real limes.
We hand squeeze real, fresh limes. Other companies really do not
make their limeades from scratch.

Q. Why are your
milkshakes so thick and creamy?
A.
We use real ice cream! We hand dip the ice
cream, add our fresh Braum's milk and flavoring. We mix it until
it's smooth and creamy. Braum's shakes and malts are not dispensed
from a machine.

Q.
Why are Braum's burgers so good?
A.
Braum's starts by using only 100% pure ground
beef, fresh condiments and vegetables on hamburger buns that are
baked in our own bakery.

Q. What time do

extra plump raisins with lots of English Walnuts that most other
raisin breads do not contain. This makes Braum's Raisin Bread
stand out and a big favorite with our customers.

Q. Are the items
sold in the grocery department the same as those sold in the restaurant
side of the business.
A.
Yes, for the most part. There are a few
differences caused by packaging limitations. When possible, it's
our goal to enable customers to purchase items in the grocery
department like ice cream in half gallons, frozen hamburger patties
made from 100% pure ground beef and baked fresh buns, breads and
cookies from Braum's Bakery.

Q. Why is Braum's
milk so much better than what you buy in the supermarket?
A.
Braum's raises our own herd of over 10,000
dairy cows and milks each cow 3 times a day on the family farm
in Tuttle, Oklahoma. Most companies buy raw milk from outside
sources so that by the time the raw milk is delivered for processing,
it's already several days old. At Braum's it may take only 24
hours to get the milk from the cow to your neighborhood Braum's
store. It doesn't get any better than that! Braum's special processing
system fortifies the reduced fat, low fat and fat free milk naturally
by concentrating it, making our milk richer, thicker, and better-tasting!
For more information visit Buy The Best
and Tour The Dairy.

Q.
Why is your Fat Free Skim Milk so much better than grocery store
milk?
A.
We vacuum process our milk through a Mechanical
Vapor Recompressor (MVR) Processing System. Braum's MVR is 4-stories
high, weights approximately 80,000 pounds and is made of stainless
steel. The vacuum MVR Processing System makes it possible to process
milk at a low temperature causing a water vapor or steam to be
released. This water removal varies from 28,000 - 40,000 lbs.
per hour depending on the type of milk being processed. In an
hour, 9000 gallons of regular fat free skim milk goes through
the MVR Processing System and 6000 gallons of Braum's Fat Free
Skim Milk comes out, ready for bottling! Another advantage of
Braum's unique MVR Processing System is taste. By processing the
milk at lower temperatures, you eliminate the possibility of having
a "cooked" flavor. By removing this water from the product, the
milk is condensed or concentrated naturally, thereby automatically
raising the levels of not-fat milk solids. Braum's Skim Milk is
fat free and has 50% more protein, calcium, niacin, riboflavin
and other essential nutrients than regular skim milk! So not only
does it taste better, it's actually better for you! (And it's
100% natural!) It takes 3 gallons of regular skim milk to make
2 gallons of Braum's Fat Free Skim Milk. Learn more about why
Braum's milk is better at Tour the Dairy
and Buy the Best.

Q.
Do you make lactose free/Acidophilus milk?
A.
No! With the development of medications
to accomplish the same thing, many dairy companies have ceased
making lactose free/Acidophilus milk.

Q. Do you have
gluten free products?
A.
We do not have a list of gluten free products,
however, any ice cream without a baked product in it would be
gluten free. Example: Our Cookies and Cream, Chocolate Chip Cookie
Dough and Brownie Fudge Sundae flavors have baked products in
them and would not be considered gluten free.

Q. Do you have
MSG free (Monosodium Glutamate) items?
A.
Most items we have are MSG free and under
the new "Labeling Laws", if an item contains MSG, it must be listed
on the label.

Q. Why can't I
get a particular Ice Cream flavor whenever I want it?
A.
To meet customer demand we developed a
system that allows us to offer our customers 27 "regular flavors",
available at all times, and 100 "rotating flavors" made every
4 weeks. We regret that all flavors can not be available at all
times, but in order to provide our customers with the best quality
product, we would rather keep the ice cream fresh. We make many
more flavors than most.

Q. Does your frozen
yogurt have live culture?
A.
Yes, the culture is added after the pasteurization
process.

Q. Are your containers
recyclable?
A.
Recycling symbol and numbers can be found
on the bottom of the gallon milk container (#2), half gallons
of milk don't have the symbol but are also recyclable. Containers
of Orange Juice, Fruit Punch, Lemonade, Spring Water, Butter,
Sour Cream, Dips, Cottage Cheese also have the information on
the bottom of the containers. Plastic containers of liter pop,
ice cream pies and pie containers (#1); plastic pimiento cheese
containers (#5) and plastic containers (#6) used for yogurts.
Egg containers and the plastic lids on milk containers (#4) are
also recyclable.

Q. What is pasteurization?
A.
Heating or pasteurizing milk kills the bacteria
present and makes it safe to drink. In the United States, federal
laws require pasteurization of milk. The Federal Government has
set the legal pasteurization time and temperature as 161.5 degrees
for 15 seconds. At Braum's, we go one step further by heating
our milk well above these standards for a longer period of time
to assure that it is free of bacteria and of the highest quality.
For more information visit Braum's Dairy
Tour.

Q. What is homogenization?
A.
Homogenization is a process that reduces
the size of fat globules so that after a 48-hour period of storage
at 7 degrees C, no visible cream separation occurs. If milk is
left to stand, butterfat (which is cream) rises to the top. The
process of homogenizing breaks these fat globules into tiny bits
and mixes it with the rest of the milk so that it has the same
consistency throughout. This is done by a machine that forces
the milk through tiny holes under tremendous pressure. For more
information visit Braum's Dairy Tour.

Q. Why is Braum's
fat free milk sweeter than other fat free milks?
A.
Braum's
Fat Free Milk has more natural sugar (lactose) per serving because
it's concentrated. Braum's unique processing system allows us
to concentrate our Fat Free Milk.

Q. Why don't the
Braum's stores In Missouri honor milk coupons?
A.
The Missouri Legislature forbids us to take milk coupons. The State Agriculture Department enforces the law. If you are unhappy with this practice, as we are, you should contact your Missouri State Legislator or the Agriculture Department.

Q. Why aren't milk
prices the same in all your stores?
A.
Milk prices are determined by a number of
factors; the marketing area each store is in, the supply and demand
of customers, available space for product storage and the local
price of other brands. We believe we have a superior product and
it's our desire to set a fair, competitive price that will allow
stores to increase sales and sell at it's potential. (This marketing
strategy sometimes results in offering milk at a lower price in
one store while another may remain fixed or even increase slightly).
Our main goal is to provide the highest quality product at the
best price in all stores.
